Mark 4:3-8
3. Now listen! A farmer went out to scatter seed in a field.
4. While the farmer was scattering the seed, some of it fell along the road and was eaten by birds.
5. Other seeds fell on thin, rocky ground and quickly started growing because the soil wasn¡¯t very deep.
6. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and dried up, because they did not have enough roots.
7. Some other seeds fell where thornbushes grew up and choked out the plants. So they did not produce any grain.
8. But a few seeds did fall on good ground where the plants grew and produced thirty or sixty or even a hundred times as much as was scattered.

Today, Jesus Christ shares a story about a farmer (Mark 4:1-9). The action of a farmer scattering seeds in a field is analogous to an evangelist delivering Jesus¡¯ message. We can find the meaning of Jesus' words in the scattered seeds (Mark 4:3). If the seeds represent Jesus' words, then the farmer in this message may be Jesus Himself, scattering His message across the field of our minds.

When we encounter Jesus' words in our minds, we should protect them from Satan¡¯s attempts to snatch them away (Mark 4:15). Satan can snatch away Jesus' words from our minds just as birds eat seeds along the road (Mark 4:4). We should also have the roots of faith, which can protect Jesus' words in our minds from hardship and troubles (Mark 4:5-6). Moreover, we should remove thornbushes—worries that choke out Jesus' words in our minds (Mark 4:7).

Finally, good soil symbolizes those who hear and welcome Jesus' words (Mark 4:8). It demonstrates an exemplary goal for our faith in Jesus Christ. Those who have good soil in their hearts can produce thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times what was sown (Mark 4:8). This is the power of people who welcome Jesus' words (Mark 4:20). We all sincerely hope to have such profound impact through Jesus Christ¡¯s words and message.
