Mark 2:10-11
10. ¡°I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.¡± So Jesus said to the man,
11. ¡°Get up! Pick up your mat and go on home.¡±
12. The man got right up. He picked up his mat and went out while everyone watched in amazement. They praised God and said, ¡°We have never seen anything like this!¡±
Today, we can see that Jesus heals a crippled man. That man couldn¡¯t go to Jesus on his own, so his friends carried him on a mat (Mark 2:4). In that moment, Jesus praised their faith and said to the crippled man, ¡°My friend, your sins are forgiven¡± (Mark 2:5). This statement by Jesus caused a stir among the teachers of the Law of Moses, as they believed that only God had the right to forgive sins (Mark 2:6). In response to their thoughts, Jesus posed a question: ¡°Is it easier for me to tell this crippled man that his sins are forgiven or to tell him to get up, pick up his mat, and go home?¡± (Mark 2:9).
It is not easy for us to respond to Jesus' question. He understands our real situation and the difficulty in answering it. Therefore, Jesus himself provides the answer: ¡°I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth¡± (Mark 2:10). Then Jesus said to the man, ¡°Get up! Pick up your mat and go home¡± (Mark 2:11). As soon as Jesus said this, the crippled man picked up his mat and went home (Mark 2:12).
Jesus Christ¡¯s solution is very clear. He can solve every difficult problem. Through his miracle, we can praise God. Jesus Christ¡¯s miracles are extraordinary, unlike anything we have ever seen before (Mark 2:12). This is the central point of what Jesus Christ does for us. Jesus Christ is at the center of his miracles, and through them, we can praise God¡¯s deeds.
