The word "manna" means "What is it?" in Hebrew. God gave the Israelites very mysterious food—this was a special gift from Him. The manna is closely related to obedience to God¡¯s word. In Exodus 16:4-5, it says, ¡°The Lord said to Moses, ¡®I will send bread down from heaven like rain. Each day the people can go out and gather only enough for that day. That¡¯s how I will see if they obey me. But on the sixth day of each week, they must gather and cook twice as much.¡¯¡± God¡¯s blessing is like rain from heaven, abundant beyond measure. In the meaning of manna, we can remember the importance of obedience to God¡¯s word and the blessings that follow. This is the essence of the lesson of the manna.
