The disciples of Jesus encountered a terrifying storm—like an earthquake—on the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 8:24). This experience mirrors the difficulties that God¡¯s people face in the world today. In their fear, the disciples woke Jesus and pleaded with Him to save them (Matthew 8:25). They then witnessed His supernatural authority as He subdued the wind and the waves (Matthew 8:26). Through this miraculous event, they encountered the divine power of Jesus Christ. This was a profound moment of faith. The miracle of Jesus Christ gives us sustaining strength and empowers our communities of faith. May God grant us such sacred moments in our own times of trouble, so that we, like the disciples, may encounter Jesus Christ who subdues the wind and the waves in the midst of life¡¯s storms (Matthew 8:27).
